Who is Wynter Jones?

Founder of Marketlify and software developer with 15 years of experience in the digital marketing space.

As I build out Marketlify and complete the tasks on the public trello board. I am going to record my screen and create a round up blog post.

No video for this dev log as I spend the last 2 nights working on this update. This update was mostly just some polish on features I've wanted to do for a while.

Here's what was completed:

In the Dev Log #2 here's whats been moved to the "Done" board on Trello.

  1. Added proper Privacy Policy, TOS, Disclaimer pages.

  2. Set defaults limits and counts integers (fix)

  3. Hide folder input (fix)

  4. Share Image bg color UI (fix)

  5. Text Editor Toolbar set to Fixed position

  6. Image border color issue (fix)

  7. Favicon show cloudinary url

  8. Section Templates Screenshot (fix)

  9. Section Templates toggle for admins

  10. Generate screenshot on show not on save

For the most part this has been just some fixes to a few areas of the app that relate to the admin account. There are also some minor UI changes just to make it all match a bit better.

I used GetTerms.io service to create the basics of a Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions and Disclaimer for a SaaS app. Will need to keep these updated as I add new features and build out the software.

Also need to make the app GDPR compliant. Bit over my head at the moment.

The biggest useful change has been to generate the screenshot on the edit page rather than when you click "save" inside of the editor. This was making saving quite slow and I personally hit save alot. So each time was costing me a few cents to generate a screenshot.

Now it does that when you actually need to see the screenshot. Seems to make more sense! Bonus is that it means less requests to URLBox.io - woot!

It's still not perfect since it is checking the updated_at field and a screenshot_timestamp. So there is more work to do to make sure it doesn't update if you update the meta data. Since that won't actually change the visual of the pages. Either way! It works for now :D

In the next development log I will get to more exciting features. Although I think bug fixes are always more exciting!

Thanks for reading!
